HAY, how art you? It’s been a while since I made a vintage theme for my bullet journal setup, so here is one featuring butterflies and maps. I also had a spur-of-the-moment idea to have a little pop-up fun with the cover page. If you enjoy vintage themes, keep scrolling to check out my August plan with me spreads!

What I used this month:Â

The cover page features the monthly header in a scrapbooky magazine-inspired font. I cut pieces of map ephemera papers and cream paper to create a wavy border on the right. To create the pop-up butterflies, I pasted the stickers on vellum paper first before attaching paper stands behind them. I took a strip of recycled hard paper and folded it into a Z shape. One end gets pasted behind a butterfly, while the other end gets attached on the page.Â
This month, I changed the layout for the quote page by fixing the quote on the top left corner of the page. Then, I balanced it out by making a collage on the opposite corner.Â
Overall, the diagonal and parallel layouts on both pages balance each other out to create an interesting spread.Â
For August, I reverted to a full-page calendar for the monthly log spread. I forgot to print the header for this spread, hence I had to handwrite the letters on black paper before cutting them out in an irregular manner. I decorated this spread using a premade collage and a quote card from this month’s free printable. You can find the download link right at the end of the article.
For the remaining space on the right page, I added sections for setting the month’s intentions and gratitude logging.Â
The first weekly spread features a weekly overview page on the left, and daily planning sections on the right. Besides the collages, I added sections for noting the week’s to-dos, as well as a reflection section for how the week went.Â
This month, I tried something new for my free printable set by creating premade collages digitally. I layered them such that the edges are easier to cut or tear. The “fluttering heart” collage might just be a tad challenging to cut, but it is possible (as seen in my first weekly spread)! Other than the collages, this set includes three butterfly quote cards in a whimsical cursive font.Â
As always, feel free to tag me on Instagram (@hay.studio) if you share any of your creations that contain my free printables; I would love to see them. Happy journaling!
